Nile Basin Initative Library
Welcome to the Nile basin initiative Library Website. Our pages provide comprehensive information about Library resources and services as well links to electronic resources that we subscribe to for the benefit of staff and key stakeholders.
 Our role is to provide access to the information resources required by members of NBI for research, learning and teaching.

There is a wealth of material to support learning and research at NBI library. We have three centers based in Uganda at secretariat, Ethiopia and Rwanda. The centers house a wealth of collections of around 25,000 printed and electronic materials these resources can be accessible physically where users visit our centers or through the online and virtual library resources.(www.nilebasin.org) follow the resources link for more information.

Vision

The Vision of The Nile basin initiative resource centre/library is to be: A world Class Regional information centre committed to share, transfer Knowledge, disseminate and preserve it as an embodiment of the aspirations of the Nile basin Countries and the Global community. 

Library mission statement
Let knowledge grow from more to more; and so be human lives of the people of the Nile Basin countries enriched The Library's mission

To provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and learning needs of end users. To fulfill this mission, the Library commits to:

  • Understand the research, teaching, and learning needs of its users;
  • Build collections and create tools to support research, teaching, and learning; 
  • Provide access to and promote the discovery and use of local and external information resources; 
  • Ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of Library collections and resources; 
  • Create hospitable physical and virtual environments for study, teaching, and research; 
  • Collaborate with other river basin organisations and the international world  to enrich the research and learning communities; 
  • Advance  national, regional and international library and information initiatives; 
  • Develop, encourage, and sustain expertise, skill, commitment and an innovative spirit in its staff.
